Indonesia Want to Increase Achievement in the 2012 Olympics

Jakarta - Olimpiade menjadi salah satu ajang penting yang akan diikuti Indonesia pada tahun 2012 ini. Di ajang ini, Indonesia diharapkan bisa tampil lebih baik ketimbang empat tahun silam.

Hal itu merupakan target yang dicanangkan Kemenpora, seperti diutarakan Sesmenpora Djoko Pekik dalam acara rapat persiapan Olimpiade yang dihadiri oleh perwakilan dari KONI, KOI,dan Satlak Prima dan Ketua Umum KONI yang baru, Tono Suratman.

"Targetnya kita bisa sukses seperti SEA Games. Coba semaksimal mungkin jadi yang terbaik. Terbaik itu ukurannya ya lebih baik dari prestasi Olimpiade 2008," ujar Djoko di Kemenpora, Jakarta, Rabu (4/1/2012).

Pada 2008 lalu, Indonesia finis di urutan 42 setelah mengoleksi 1 emas, 1 perak, dan 3 perunggu. Untuk tahun ini, Merah Putih ditargetkan bercokol di 35 besar. Bulu tangkis kembali diharapkan menjadi lokomotif Indonesia dalam mendulang sukses.

Dari 26 cabang yang di pertandingkan di Olimpiade, KONI akan mengirimkan atlet dari 13 cabang olahraga. Dari jumlah itu, lima cabang sudah mengantongi tiket ke London. Yakni, bulu tangkis, angkat besi, panahan, renang, dan atletik.

"Yang hampir dipastikan lolos kualifikasi ke Olimpiade juga masih ada rowing, menembak, dan tinju putri. Harapan kita sukses seperti halnya SEA Games. Semaksimal mungkin mendapatkan yang terbaik."

"Mudah-mudahan kita bisa memperbaiki peringkat dan mendapat medali lebih banyak lagi. Kami akan menghimpun upaya-upaya sehingga target tercapai," tandas Djoko.

2011 AsianPowerlifting Championships

Host City: Kobe, Japan
Date: December 5-9, 2011

With the support of the Philippine SportsCommission, Philippine Olympic Committee, Dewfoam, SNI supplements and YellowCab, the Philippine Powerlifting team turned in a spectacular performance with10 athletes taking home 21 gold medals aside from numerous silvers and bronzesin the 2011 Asian Powerlifting Championships held in Kobe, Japan recently.
The 2011 Asian Powerlifting Championships had over 300lifters participating. Countries represented were Iran, Japan, Kazahkstan,Chinese-Taipei, Turmenistan, Indonesia, India, Uzbekistan, Oman, Korea,Mongolia, Hong Kong, Afghanistan, Iraq, UAE, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.

Day 1
Regie Ramirez swept all 4 gold medals in his weightclass, Anita Koykka also got 4 gold medals plus a Best Lifter award, Betina Bordeos pocketed 3 gold medals, Tony Taguibao defended his 3 gold medals, while Nina Oca snatched 2 additional gold medals for a great start for the Philippines on the first day of the 2011 Asian Powerlifting Championships .

Ramirez won gold medals in the Squat, BenchPress, Deadlift and Total with lifts of 165kg, 100kg, 195kg, and 460kgrespectively in the 53kg class Sub-Junior category (18 years old & below)to share claim to the most gold medals for the country on opening day.

Koykka, lifting in the 52kg Master II category, intentionally lifted way below her normal capabilities to preserve strength for the tough Open category in 2 days. Although preserving strength, Koykka still swept the 4 Gold medals with a 135kg Squat, 155kg Deadlift, 80kg Bench Press, and 370kg Total to easily win the Women's Master II Best Lifter award.

Betina Bordeos showed that beauty and brawn domix in winning the gold medals in the Bench Press (85kg), Deadlift (165kg), andTotal (390kg) to lord it over in the 57kg Junior category (19-23 years old), a big improvement over her already impressive 1 gold medal win last year. She also won the silver medal in the Squat with a lift of 140kg
Many-time World Masters champion Tony Taguibao destroyed the opposition in the 59kg Master II category to win gold medals in the Squat (165kg), Deadlift (187.5kg) and Total (435kg) despite a shoulder injury. He also won a bronze in the Bench Press lifting 82.5kg
Nina Oca added to her World & Asian goldmedal collection by winning the Gold medals in Deadlift (127.5kg) and BenchPress (70kg) in the 57kg Masters II category. Oca also won silvers in the Squat(110kg) and the Total (307.5kg)


Day 2
Teenagers Clark Cruz & Raymond Debuque added 5 more goldmedals for the Philippine Powerlifting Team on the second day of the 2011 AsianPowerlifting Championships in Kobe, Japan.
Debuque won gold medals in the Squat, Bench Press, Deadliftand Total with lifts of 320kg, 170kg, 240kg, and 730kg respectively in the120+kg class Sub-Junior category (18 years old & below) to claim the mostgold medals for the country on the 2nd day.

Cruz, in the meantime grabbed the Deadlift gold medal in the93kg class Sub-Junior category with a lift of 235kg. He also won silvers in theSquat (255kg) & Total (617.5kg) to go with his bronze medal in the BenchPress (127.5kg).

Combining these golds with the 15 gold medals won on the 1stday, the Philippine team has already amassed 20 gold medals
The 3rd Sub-Junior entry on Day 2, John Castelar, took 5th place in the 74kg class. Castelar, however, managed to get a new PhilippineSub-Junior record in the 74kg class with a Bench Press of 125kg.


Day 3
The Open category started on this day with National Champions Leslie Evangelista and Anita Koykka starting it off for the team collaring 3 bronze medals and 2 silvers.
Leslie Evangelista continued the charge of the Philippine team with a bench press bronze (62.5kg) and deadlift silver (135kg) in the 47kg Open class.

Anita Koykka, tired from competing in the Masters competition 2 days earlier, battled it out in the 52kg Open class. Koykka still managed to squat 145kg for a bronze, deadlift 150kg for a silver, and total 377.5kg for another bronze. Together with her 4 Gold medals on Day 1, Koykka easily emerged as the most outstanding performer for the Philippines.


Day 4
Michelle Cruz, competing in the 72kg Open class, finished the Philippine campaign with a bronze medal in the Bench Press with a lift of 102.5kg.
Head of Delegation was Tony Taguibao while the coaches ofthe team were Eddie Torres, Tony Koykka, and Allan Paje.
