Palembang - After 12 days unfolded, the Games of Southeast Asian countries, SEA Games, the 26 th edition of the official end on Tuesday (22/11/2011) night. Indonesia hosts emerge as overall champion.Vice President Boediono attended the closing ceremony at the Stadium Srivijaya, Jakabaring, Palembang, at once officially closed the event at about 19:50 pm.
Boediono in his speech also touched on the incidence of deaths of two supporters of Indonesia in the final game of football last night, and expressed condolences on behalf of the Indonesian government.
Earlier, Chairman of the KONI / KOI Rita Subowo and Minister of Youth and Sports Andi Mallarangeng also gave a speech, which among other things congratulated contingent "Red and White" who managed to come out as overall winner.
Indonesia managed to collect the most medals with details of 182 gold, 151 silver and 143 bronze. Thailand, the overall winner in the last two editions, was second with 109 gold, 100 silver and 120 bronze. Vietnam ranks third with 96 gold, 92 silver and 100 bronze.
This is the first time Indonesia became the best contestants in the SEA Games, having become the overall champion 1997 SEA Games in Jakarta.
The closing ceremony took place interesting, among others, with fireworks, lighting, laser lights and the various attractions of the dancers, as well as the parade of athletes from all contestants. The next SEA Games will be held in Naypyidaw, Myanmar, 2013.
