Kobayashi and Ericsson replaces Giedo van der Garde and Charles Pic , two riders Caterham last season . Van der Garde has become a test driver and reserve driver at Sauber .
Kobayashi is not a new name in F1 . Japanese rider was diving debut in the race to land the jet in 2009 with Toyota . He further strengthen Sauber in 2010-2012 .
In the past year , Kobayashi did not get a place in F1 . He also competed Le Mans 24 Hours and the World Endurance Championship with AF Corse team .
After a year hiatus , Kobayashi has now returned to F1 and he could not hide his excitement .
" It's fun back into F1 racer and I am very happy because it was the Caterham , " I Kobayashi is quoted by Autosport .
" Throughout our discussions , I was very impressed with where they want to carry the team , and the considerable investment already made to help them achieve their targets , " he added .
Meanwhile , Ericsson is a debutant in F1 . The Swedish rider previously spent four years in GP2 event .
Last year , the defending team DAMS Ericsson ranked sixth in the final standings GP2 . He will become the first Swedish rider who appeared in F1 since Stefan Johansson last did it in 1991 .
" This is a very proud day for me and everyone has helped me to realize my dream of performing in F1 , " said Ericsson .
" I go up to F1 with Caterham in 2014 and I enthusiastically welcome the upcoming season , and the first series in Australia.
